Debbie attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for the purpose of linquistic studies, graduating with a B.A. in Spanish as well as Philosophy and Religion. She has worked in the medical field for over 20 years and has a burden for the suffering and needy in the Caribbean and Central America. She is an experienced children’s Sunday School teacher and has a music ministry that includes singing in weekly concerts as a member of the Pillar Records Choir when home on furlough. |
We are David & Debbie Goodrum, directors of Lighthouse Missionary Outreach, and missionaries to the Caribbean and Central America. This is our fourteenth year of committed, full-time service to the wonderful people of the islands and lands just to our south. It has been an eventful experience (we have been through many storms and once was shipwrecked, loosing a boat at sea) but have also enjoyed introducing over 480 souls to Jesus, helped poor and needy people, and been an inspiration to many pastors and teachers. |
We live aboard our 40ft trimaran “Faith” , by which we also carry medical and relief supplies to places like Haiti and Honduras. It can also accommodate guest missionaries and small youth teams. She is an older boat, but still hardy enough to carry us to any part of the Caribbean. |
So far we have covered all of the Bahamas, the Turks & Caicos Islands, Haiti and Honduras, but have plans to sail to Belize and Guatemala next. We would also like to go down the Caribbean to South America and places like Guyana & Trinidad. |
Our travels to different harbors and anchorages has given us many opportunities to share the “Good News” about Jesus to boaters from all parts of the world through personal evangelism and ’onboard’ worship services. |
In the countries we visit we minister to hundreds of children through our “Kid’s Krusades” using puppets, music and drama to present the Christian message in ways even the ’smallest’ hearts can understand. These special programs have also been an inspiration to local church leaders, encouraging them in the development of their own children’s ministries. |

We provide training for pastors and youth workers, and deliver teaching materials, puppets, visual aids, and Bibles, which are donated by churches ‘back home’. |

And we have brought hurricane and humanitarian relief to Haiti and Honduras, carrying cargos of food, clothing, and medical supplies, as well as aided Cuban and Haitian refugees. |
